Years ago, the scientific humor magazine "Journal of Irreproducible Results" had an article about how National Geographic magazines were the Doomsday device that would lead to the deaths of us all. The article's premise what that since no one ever threw away National Geographic magazines, before too long their accumulated mass would cause the Earth's crust to collapse.

The article was funny, but I think they missed the mark. The true Doomsday device is Senator Byrd. He's putting so much pork and concrete into West Virginia that sooner or later, something is going to give. He must be stopped.
