Yeah, but a "beginning to time", the Big Bang idea, and the "creation of the universe" have more in common with the religious explanation than not. 'The earth was without form and void', and 'let there be light', sounds a lot like the Big Bang. Modern physics is all about creation, only god is left out.
This is why I have some faith in the scientific explanation. You don't need a creator to have creation. That's just strange enough to be true.
