Traditionally, a domestic case like this would be classified as the work of a "serial killer," not a terrorist.

Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer and Richard Speck were not termed terrorists in the media, and I can't recall anyone anywhere ever attaching the concept of terrorism to their dastardly deeds.

The use of the term "domestic terrorism" is this case seems tailored to inspire fear.
