Re: The weapons used to disrupt the power grid were no nuke

Morning Ed,

Yes, I've heard that too...but the air defense and radar systems aren't powered by conventional power grids - they almost always have their own built in generators - often underground right next to the arrays

Clinton wanted no high casualties while he wagged the dog - lest his poll numbers drop deeper. Getting the first wave of planes in was problematic and he probably wanted some insurance.

If you check this link you will see that another EMP based device besides the graphite thread, does indeed exist, and that Itar-Tass reported its usage. The US never denied its existence, but said rather that it was not used.

The Russians couldn't have pulled that albino rabbit weapon out of a hat unless the idea was tossed about in Clinton's leaky White House first. The Clinton team, when confronted likely knew there was a leak and so didn't deny the weapon, only its usage - which was more stupid - they should've denied it all.

Of course one can toss a coin. Clinton vs. Itar-Tass. Both crummy sources for the unvarnished truth. Without any immediate ground rad readings on those first days the truth may never be known.
