You have to remember that the money from the international drug trade is cash and is often traded in weapons and the support of regimes......

You people ignore the obvious.
That, in effect, is why our "War on Drugs" policy never goes anywhere.
The money is funnelled back in for weapons and the propping up of paid political groups...so to speak.
Drug money is mostly untraceable, laundered through off shore accounts and large companies dealing in international trade, protected by various countries' militaries. The money brings POWER and does not have to be declared to the IRS, for example.
Oh, if drugs were legalized and the monies used for the betterment of mankind, (eg: education, medical research) on a non-political par, the world would be a nicer and safer place.
But no, the robber drug barons will have their shoot-outs and we'll all have to duck.
