Current Events » in reply to MSNBC: Democrats see specter of all-GOP government

Pretty high horses you guys are riding

You say that Democrats are bad or hypocritical for seeking to prevent the Republicans from gaining both houses and the presidency? And Republicans are different because they wouldn't mind a bit if Democrats held all three?

>>>Everything the Democrats do is about gaining and keeping power. The more, the better.

Of course the Republicans are too dignified to try to win elections.

>>>There is not one major policy, agenda, piece of legislation, or any other action on their part in Washington that does not have this as its primary goal, and anyone is welcome to try and come up with an exception. No one has so far when I have thrown this challenge out.

No one can figure out your corkscrew logic that urges you to propose this. Anything that the Democrats propose, that does anything good for anybody, you claim is a bribe for votes. Well heck! Politicians are supposed to do good works, while in office. And Republicans resort to populism too, in any case.

>>>The main route is, of course, insuring that the maximum number of voters are in some way dependent on the Federal Government for their livelihood, which not only includes spending on the elderly and social programs, but fat government contracts and many other forms of wealth transfer.

The entire point of self-government is to seek out your own good. In an indirect democracy the voter's goal is to elect those who best provide for the good of the voters. Period. End of story. Anything else, and it's not democracy any more.
