I have to disagree
If the US attempts to play political games by indulging what is believed to be more benign forms of religious bigotry, it could only backfire and harm American interests in the end. Any 'moderate' form of Islamic law seen as bought with American dollars will only provoke a more extreme reaction from hardliners, and a far more virulent form of Sharia as a result. And for a great nation that claims values of freedom, equality, and democracy, no good could come from forgetting these values and compromising with evil.
