I gotta admit, "They didn't have the time or money to be able to avoid desecrating Wellstone's memorial service" is the most creative excuse for the Left I've heard so far, and I've been going back and forth with Splinx on the protestors.

Again, what chaps my ass more than anything else is not that they made the service into a campaign rally, it's that the slightest mention of the Minnesota campaign by Republicans up to that point had been met by horrified indignation from the Democrats about how the rotten Republicans were "politicizing" Wellstone's death. Republicans had been raked over the coals for even mentioning Wellstone or Mondale for the entire preceding weekend.
