Hey, everybody!
Just before I went to bed (somewhat after I went to sleep) early this morning, I recall hearing dimly that investigators may have uncovered the reason for the Wellstone tragedy, but I can't find it anywhere in print or online. Admittedly, I haven't looked too hard yet.
My son was watching the TV, so that would be where I heard the drone of talking heads, and it sounded like a reporter, not a discussion group, so it may be more factual.
What I remember: the Wellstone aircraft took off just after a big JAL airliner and it got caught in the JAL's vortex. The pilots corrected for the problem and got caught in a second vortex (same JAL plane? I don't know) that waggled Wellstone's plane so badly the tail (and at least one engine?) snapped off. The weather is believed to have been a contributing, but not the determining, factor.
"Vortex" is not a word that inhabits my dreamscape, so I'm pretty sure I heard this. Does it make sense to anyone else here? Has anyone seen anything similar?
Trying to put this to rest--
