For the moment, there is much more influence of western cultures in the Islam countries than the other way around.
It bothers them and they get more radical.
This is something familiar as the french speaking part of Belgium has always had a much bigger influence in Flanders than the other way around. That's why we find more people able to speak french in Flanders than flemish in Walloonia.
Also, perhaps Europeans were willing to decolonize after WW2 when they could understand what being occupied by the Germans meant.
The US has never been occupied (well, that is if I'm not putting myself in the Native American point of view).
If they haven't been occupied, they should at least travel to those countries in Asea and Africa to make a better judgment.
And stay away from the luxury hotels, really meeting the local people.
