Unbelievable.

The last time my blood pressure went up this high was the 2000 election.

Bush sat in the Governor's mansion on election night, watching the numbers come in. Then Gore calls to say that he is retracting his concession, and the DNC and Gore go to war. Lawyers dispatched before the polls even closed converged on the contested counties, with a battle plan prepared before the election. And the process was in play while Bush was still trying to figure out where his coffee cup was. Thank God the Republicans woke up in time and gave as good as they got (for a change.)

And those who rewrite history to serve their own agendas are still painting Bush as the one who "stole" the election. Well, not much I can do about that. I know what happened.

Now, the same forces, in many cases the same organizations and people* have decided to reverse the 2002 election, and destroy the Republican ability to make use of their new majority.

I haven't the slightest doubt that the word went out the minute the election results were in, or at latest, when the Louisiana election was decided. "Destroy the Majority Leader." It just remained to find a convenient opening.

I haven't the slightest doubt that had a Democratic Senator from Mississippi attended Thurmond's party, and said exactly the same thing Lott said, that it would not even have made the local newspapers, much less resulted in the destruction of the Senator.

In psychotic glee, the Democrats are attempting to not only wreck Lott, but paint the entire Republican Party as blatantly racist. This piece of crap is the top story on Time's web page, attempting to smear Ronald Reagan, the absolute top of the most hated list for the Left. I leave it to you to imagine what the fury and outrage would have been if a hit piece like this had been published about a famous Democratic politician in his last days from Alzheimers. Reagan? Screw him.

Now Lott is reduced to groveling in front of the Victimization Industry, praising racial quotas, and anything else his tormentors demand. Hell, I'm surprised he hasn't come out in favor of reparations yet. The man has been destroyed as an effective leader for the Republicans. Which was, of course, the point.

Yeah, it's frustrating. I think it's the inherent unfairness of it all--the Democrats routinely get away with things twice as bad as the things that Republicans are destroyed for. And to rub salt into the wound, the Democrats routinely accuse Republicans of using exactly the same kind of lying, underhanded "politics of destruction" that they have raised to a fine art.

Ah, I'll get over it. It's got to catch up to them sooner or later.

*Harry Belafonte has one heck of a nerve calling Colin Powell a "house slave" when Jesse Jackson is carrying water for the Democrats the way he does.
