Recommend you check which political parties have been running with the tobacco industries for the past fifty years. If a Senator or representative comes from the South, they are into tobacco. In years past, most southern congressmen were Democrats. I think most of them are Republicans now. Before, Democrats took the tobacco money because they were in power. Now Republicans do. If Democrats win the south back again, then they'll take the money again.
Another way you can look at it is that Democrats are still taking tobacco money, only laundered by the trial lawyers.
"Throughout most of my life, I raised tobacco. I want you to know that with my own hands I put in the plant beds and transferred it! I've hoed it! I've chopped it! I've shredded it, spiked it, put it in the barn and stripped it and sold it!"
