Re: How soon I forget.

Yes, Iraq started by invading Kuwait. Bush (41) helped form a Coalition of nations to liberate Kuwait. The air campaign was just a few days old when Iraq started firing Scuds at Israel. They fired over 30 Scuds at Israel over the next few weeks, despite the fact that Israel wasn't part of the Coalition and wasn't attacking Iraq. So, the answer to your original question "Has Iraq EVER attacked Israel?" is yes.

It's true that Israel did take out that Iraqi reactor back in the early 1980s. It turns out they did the world a favor. Saddam used chemical weapons during the Iran-Iraq war. That war (which Saddam started) killed upwards of a million people on both sides. Do you think he would've hesitated to use nuclear weapons if he had them?

Even after losing the reactor, the weapons inspections from the early 1990s showed he was within a year or two of having nuclear weapons when the Gulf War broke out. So much for those who kept arguing that we should "give the sanctions a chance".
