Democrat wants the draft?
<Not hardly. Democrat Charles Rangel is just trying to throw a monkey wrench into the American military effort. Well aware that the Vietnam protest movement was largely driven by the draft (it evaporated almost overnight when the draft was ended), he apparently feels that a draft will create a groundswell of protest from those currently not in the military.
One hopes this won't go anywhere, and not just because national conscription is a crappy idea in the first place.
