Speaking of crocks...

You know, I would be having a lot more fun with this if I knew you guys would eat a big plate of crow when this all works out okay and Afghanistan ends up a bit bumpy, but a lot better off than it was.

But it's going to be like it has always been. The predictions of the past never happened. We didn't say what you thought we said. There were circumstances. The sun was in our eyes.

I suppose this mental block is the reason that after the history of Marxism in the past century, you can still find Marxists advocating the system at universities.

Anybody remember Afghanistan and the tens of thousands of U.S. troops that would die there at the hands of the fiercest and most dedicated fighters on the planet? Anybody remember the 100,000 children who were going to die of famine this winter? The quagmire? The "next Vietnam?" Anybody remember the tens of thousands of American body bags that were going to come back from the Gulf War? At the hands of the fiercest and most dedicated fighters on the planet?*

If we attack Iraq, and it's NOT a disaster, how many people are actually going to be disappointed? Do they hate Bush that much that they'd rather see wholesale death than a policy success?

The Left is dead wrong on so many things: foreign policy, the environment (how many environmentalists predicted confidently that we'd all be dead by the year 2000?), economics...and they NEVER say "Well, looks like I screwed up on THAT one." Never.

*This title apparently gets passed to whoever we happen to be planning on fighting. The Viet Cong wore it proudly for years. The baton will probably soon be in the hands of the North Korean military.
