World War II had been in progress for many years before D-Day.
Bush's war against Iraq has not yet started.
We didn't start World War II.
Bush is trying to start Gulf War II.
See the difference? Because we have not been attacked, Gulf War II is discretionary. Bush intends to attack Iraq as a matter of policy, not self-defense. The American people have a right to a say in government policy. Even the policies of a Republican government. Perhaps even more so, given the stubbornly anti-democratic stance of this government.
