Current Events » in reply to SDAI, what the fruk would YOU know about the "working class"?

Your words wound me!

"fruk?"

Now now Lindy...that's not very lady-like.

I know a great deal about the working class, what it feels like to do hard physical labor and going home with muscles that ache so hard you feel them for days until your body finally acclimates to the increased activity.

Very early in my career I worked as a warehouse person. I think I earned about $180 a week. And paid for every dollar in sweat and muscle pain. Such work builds inner strength and an appreciation for all who do physical labor - and is about as working class as one can get. It may have been for a short time, a few months, but that is the American dream in action, moving up the ladder, getting away from using the body and using more of the mind.

However, I don't shy from hard physical activity and have my share of calluses, bruised knuckles and cuts and scars.

You just think I am a spoiled "Ivory Tower" resident who lives the good life without having paid any dues.

As some of my Utah-bred farming ancestors would say: "T'aint so"

The working class has counted me among its many laborers - does moving up the ladder immediately rescind "working class" status? Is this what all members of the working class have to look forward to if they get a better job? Scorn?

;-)
