The committee assignments are a very small tip of a very large iceberg. I could go on a long time about massive U.N. financial corruption and collectivist agenda-driven programs. The U.N. is financed largely by the U.S., relies on the U.S. for most of its military clout, and yet spends a great deal of its time trying to cut the U.S. off at the knees.
I personally think the organization has worn out its welcome, and we need to think of something else.
