Spin correction
This story was on page 13 of my newspaper, and I had to do a search to find it on their website.
I know, you're on that media bias thing again. The rest of the story is that the Mercury-News featured the story on the front page at the fold, with a photograph and a reference to the story inside on page 13. They didn't bury it, as you seem to be implying.
