Not because he now thinks that the world is behind him (that argument is pretty weak. He knows the army on his doorstep has a different POV), but because he is always convinced he is invincible, despite all evidence to the contrary.
He thought he could sweep up Iran in a matter of weeks - not have to sue for peace after 8 years.
Didn't the Saudi's/arabs actually offer him exile a few months back or was that a case of bad journalism?
