That is the way I see it.
Iraq is probably the only near term opportunity we will have to set up a secular western style democracy that could win over the rest of the Arab world.
We had the opportunity in Iran and we blew it. Under Carter there was no second chance.
We probably could wait it out and contain Saddam but there will never be a better opportunity to deter Islamic fundamentalism in the heart of their world.
It is risky but worth it. Hopefully we learned somthing from our failure in Iran.
