Waiting for the shoe to drop...

Don't know when the attack will come. I've only got two more days before I lose my bet that it would have been the first week in March.

The Left has gone into that zone that is the equivalent of the part in the movie "The Exorcist" where the pea soup starts flying. They see that we're going in regardless, that Bush is not a weathervane like Clinton, and worst of all, that Iraq and the world will be better off for it.

Reasonable people have already seen the hypocrisy of the peace movement, with many of the same people condemning Bush having lauded Clinton's attacks on Iraq, using the exact justifications that Bush is using now. Reasonable people have seen the motivations of the peace movement, driven by anti-American forces along with anti-Bush ones, with thousands of signs bitterly condemning Bush and America, and not a single one--even a polite one--calling on Saddam for action of any kind.

It has become obvious to Bush and many others that proof of Saddam's crimes is not what the opposition is looking for. In fact, the opposition was never looking for it, using the idea only as another delaying tactic that they could use to damage America and Bush. Films of Saddam personally building a fission warhead would not have changed anything. He is going to have to just go ahead, and deal with the political consequences as well as the positive results.

The U.N. has been irrelevant for years, performing some laudable humanitarian functions, but largely functioning to funnel wealth from the rich countries into the poor ones, and sinking into its own moral corruption. It has been useless in matters of military force, as was proven in Kosovo, Rwanda and elsewhere. The Left, being collectivist and non-objective, cannot imagine taking an action unless one gathers a "consensus" first, and are unable to see that a correct action is still a correct action, regardless of how many votes it gets. If it's right to go into Iraq, it is right whether the whole world does it, or just one nation. If it's wrong, the same holds. Getting France to agree to an action does not make it right, and having France veto it does not make it wrong.

I'm just hunkering down now and watching the fur fly.
