What effect is the revolt in Blair's ranks going to have on the Iraq situation? It seems as if some important MPs have come close to castrating Blair because he is going forward in his resolution to support Bush. What happens if he has a non-confidence crisis in the middle of declaring war? How far, and how quickly, will the rebel MPs go?

This, to me, is indicative of the larger picture that several here have pointed out, in that the whole Iraq game as played by Bush is serving to disrupt and divide the world stage, which seems to me to practially be playing into the hands of Bin Laden or whoever else might wish harm to the western world. (not to mention the damage being done to the US economy and spirit as has also been pointed out)

Is crippling the UN one of Bush's goals? Is there some idea that this will enhance the power of the US? If you are the only one tall enough to stand in the pool while everyone else is treading water or sinking, does it enhance your position to piss in the pool?
