I confess that I know diddley about
military combat, or military technology & strategy, but I do know something human nature.
It's not Saddam's pronouncements that trouble me, it's the "talking-heads"
on TV, and radio, that trouble me...Most
of these taking-heads [with the exception of someone like Col. Oliver North, & and those generals that frequent the news talk-shows] have for the most part never been in uniform and have never faced the horrors, terror and
hardships of combat.
Hah! Why is someone like Rush Limbaugh so eager for war in Iraq when he has never been in combat himself?
Or for that matter those "talking-heads" like William Safire,
George Wills, E. Gordon Liddy, David Frum [Dubya's former WH staffer], and
even George Stephanopolis [a democrat]...Why do they promote war against Iraq so strongly?....Is it because they too have never experienced
the bloodshed, horror, terror and misery of war firsthand?
I've notice a lot of that lately...including here on HZ forum.
It seems that people who've never experienced war and combat first-hand are the very same people who promote the idea of going to war most strongly. Human nature?...
Well...I guess I can point
accusatory fingers at myself, too, on this subject.

It's fascinating, and troubling, listening to pundits and retired-generals talking about the coming war.
