Re: Alternatives

Looking forward to it. Honestly. If anyone can come up with something real, you could probably do it. Would like to hear from a few others here, too. This place has the smartest liberals I know.

The point that is not being addressed in many of these debates is that just sitting back and doing nothing, or doing something ineffective, can have deadly consequences too. That's what makes politics and military decisions such a bitch.

The question of war in Iraq is being treated by many anti-war people as though we have everything to gain by not going to war and no possible way to lose. To be sure, some pro-war types argue exactly the opposite, which is no more true.

My take on it is that things will be better...not perfect, and not "solved," but better...after Saddam is taken out. Certainly it will give millions of Iraqis a hope of something better, compared to no hope at all right now. And we can move on to other things like North Korea.* Sure, I could be wrong. But so could the people who claim that EVERYTHING will be worse.

*Which, unlike Iraq, the anti-Bush folks insist we deal with unilaterally. Go figure.
