<The "we didn't want to reveal/endanger our intelligence" line is BS.
Let me just tell you politely that nothing you said in your post has much bearing on the way things really are.
It never ceases to amaze me. I would have expected a smaller degree of ignorance amoung people about sources and methods, not such a large degree as I see regularly.
. . . but of course when it comes to other peoples knowlege of the United States intelligence community I am content with complete ingorance ;-)
