Let me get this straight, we only had enough forces on hand to win quickly IF A LONG SHOT HAD SUCCEEDED??? And this is good planning???

Let's cut the crap okay? It's going to take the end of April or maybe even until May to get the 1st on the ground in Iraq fighting. That's getting awfully close to that Summer war we were supposedly trying to avoid. It is absolutely preposterous to say this was the plan all along when we all heard for months about "simultaneity" and "shock and awe." Rumsfeld nixed the overwhelming force plan and now we have to hit the panic button and scramble as many forces over there as quickly as possible. Maybe they were already mobilized but they should have been deployed already. Rumsfeld should be held directly accountable once this mess is over, and Bush should be held accountable in 2004.

"if the regime HAD given up on that long shot, these planners would be heroes" Well the regime didn't give up and these planners are anything but heros. They were WRONG and there will be a lot more American casualties than there would have been had they not tried to save a few bucks and had listened to the top military brass.
