The Quality Factor Is Obviously Huge

As you know I posted an article which seemed to support your view. After viewing it and the news at the time I thought we were in good shape, but just barely. It appeared to me that the pentagon had put in a significant margin for error, but that was barely enough to deal with unexpected tactics.

Since then it seems the unexpected tactics factor was fastly overplayed. They inflicted minimal damage on our troops and had minimal effect in turning civilians against us. The only impact appears to have been to delay massive surrenders and welcoming ceremonies.

When the casualty figures differ by a ratio of 100 it is as good as a force ratio of ten according to that analysis I posted. No one suggested we put 10 times the number of troups Iraq had into their country so it may be that our qualitative superiority is enough to cover the concerns of armchair analysts. I had not heard anyone predict the degree of superiority we have seen. Time will tell though because we do not know how much tougher it will get. It is clear that what Iraq put in our way was barely a hindrance so far. It is also clear that huge numbers fought only out of fear.

Hats off to our troups for fighting hard, bravely, expertly, and with honor. The response of civilians who feel free and the handling of the potential riot at the shrine indicate our troups are
doing almost as well at restraining their fire as using it.

Regards,
Mark
