What's the name of that little Iraqi kid which lost his limbs. The Media was making a big deal about it. Last I saw of it, the kid said he didn't want to go to America for any treatment. He also said he didn't want to talk to any more reporters- he was pissed off with the way they treated him.
Everyone hates the reporters, they are scumbags. They are rude, stupid, and generally quite annoying- and some of them are deliberately hostile, though most are simply vacuous twits. This isn't because of random chance that we get such horrible people being reporters- they are this way because they are trained to be this way.
If you think about it, reporters represent our country, they go places in the world, claiming to be Americans then they objectively report on some starving person or whatever. What kind of impression are they making on the population they visit? They are taking advantage of victims. They don't help anyone, it's more likely they will harm people than provide any assistance. What impression does this have on the audience which is seeing all this? Well they given an example of a human being (the reporter) not doing anything to help someone in need- so the reporters are promoting inaction [they are apparently "good people" and they aren't doing anything to help- other than perhaps pitch their voice so as to make it appear they are concerned].
I think we need to pass laws which require American reporters to do things which are at least somewhat helpful towards the subjects of their reporting. If they are going to a location in which people are starving they should bring some food, if they are going into a war zone they should bring something or set up something that would help war victims they are going to report on. This would be similar to embedding- it's not that these are reporters are neccesarily going to have some huge affect, but the idea is they wouldn't be so alienated from the subjects of what they are reporting (and will get a better understanding) and stop pretending they care when they don't do anything which demonstrates this. Another advantage is *maybe* less reporters will be murdered. And *maybe* generally America will be less hated.
