I never expected to be rewarded, though. But I didn't think anyone should be. I was doing my best. That is all I knew. We were poor, and money was a moot issue. It absolutely threw me into a *DOES NOT COMPUTE* mode because my brother got money for doing what I thought was something that should not induce a monetary reward. You should do your best, 'because.'

In retrospect, I was very naive and idealistic growing up. My life lessons have come down on me hard.

When all else fails, lower your expectations.
