I'm really torn about this. I think the looting was a terrible thing and I really would like to have seen it stopped early.
On the other hand, since I wasn't there, I have no idea what other pressing issues the US forces were facing at the time...maybe the looting was the least of their concerns for good reason. I don't know.
Perhaps there are better ways to address the issue than in the courts. By painting it as a war crime, the US is neccessarily forced onto the defensive and it becomes a fight instead of a discussion.
