The Left is going to try and make some hay out of this.

The current leftist rewriting of history is that during the McCarthy Era (a couple of years), there were no Soviet agents anywhere in America except in McCarthy's mind. That McCarthy was a lunatic.

The term "McCarthyism" is dragged out any time you look at a Marxist and say that is what they are. Ideally, this is supposed to stop you in your tracks.

The Venona papers and others proved, of course, that there actually were communists "under the bed" during the 40s and 50s, and that the American communist movement and many individual American communists were in fact controlled by the Soviet Union. Don't look for this to be pointed out in the coming media free-for-all.

The Venona papers can be found here, and more tractable distillations can be found many places on the web.
