Helmets or berets
After weeks of "Iraq being liberated from Saddam", I still see US soldiers appearing as combattants, with helmets.
The UK troops have adopted berets, which show their eyes and faces to the Iraqis, showing them a sign of trust, of being human just like they are.
Helmets send a very different message: hiding more the eyes, ready to fight, little trust towards the population.
Lucas' empire soldiers in Star Wars never showed their eyes.
Besides, helmets are much heavier and hotter than berets.
