he started out smart as a whip and on top of the game. He ended with a pack of yes-men who kept shifting his reality, until the only thing he saw was a chess board, with him as the white king, and all his pieces exposed.
He played the last game poorly and lost, unable to realize that Bush was plainsman's playing poker on his chess board -- a game best played "close to the vest."
