There are some declassified documents concerning WMDs on the website of the Federation of American Scientists (FAS). I've seen stuff on the FAS website concerning military satellites that should(?) have gotten someone thrown in jail with a long sentence. I have no clue concerning how the FAS avoids trouble with the FBI. The point here is these declassified documents are probably correct and not just random Internet lunacy. Note the comments concerning the shelf life of binary chemical weapons (binary chemical weapons do not deteriorate very fast).
DEBKA File has been saying that most if not all of the Iraqi WMDs where transfered through Syria to the Bekka Valley in Lebanon. One presumes that the Hizbullah are watching over these weapons if the story is true. Of course DEBKA File is completely untrustworthy and will create or pass on any gossip that they think advances the interests of Israel, e.g., anything embarrassing to Syria or Saudi Arabia. The following was extracted from an interview between Syria's President, Bashar Assad and a Newsweek reporter.
>Reporter: What is your response to stories that Iraq put its weapons of mass
>destruction in your country during the war?
>Bashar Assad: Why would Syria let them put these weapons in this country?
>There's no benefit for Syria.
Note that Assad answered the question with a question. Also note that he says "this country", i.e., Syria. He mentioned that there's no benefit for Syria but I imagine there would be a considerable benefit for Hizbullah and their terror war against Israel. Needless to say, one of the nightmare scenarios for the United States is having the most of the WMD arsenal of Saddam Hussein being transferred over to terrorists. It should be no surprise that Colin Powell has recently had direct meetings with Bashar Assad.
