You got it. I think some posters compose their messages in a word processor, probably to take advantage of the spelling checker. That can wreak havoc on links and image tags, too.
I'm going to have to come up with a way to filter text to eliminate "non-standard" characters--those from the ASCII character set with a value greater than 127.
