Mirroring hard drives is a good idea, but I have yet to try anything like that on the home level. For me, just saving the truly important data to a ZIP disk suffices. That way I can just reformat when needed. Its a pain, but my equipment sems to be ina constant state of transition anyway as I arduously upgrade at moments of oppurtunity.
I have an idea I've been kicking around, which I have not seen posted anywhere else. As a way to increase performance I have thought about adding a second harddrive to use only as a swapfile. Put the primary Harddrive on IDE 1 and the secondary on IDE 2. That way whenever Windows needs to access the swapfile it doesn't have to stop reading from the primary Harddrive.
Does anybody know why you can't get more than 2 IDE ports on a motherboard?
