Growing up in the South in the 1960's and 70s and hearing from family and others the long whining ill-informed rants about the great old south was like listening to the anti-war revisionists here and elsewhere manufacture their alternative view universes. I just don't care for it.
Africans, I bet, would have gotten here as immigrants if there had been no slavery.
It would have been very different indeed if property rights ahd been extended to them instead of against them.
Just as anti-semitism seems to be a tragic flaw in Europe, one that will not go away, so does the race based flaws represented in African slavery seem to be ours.
The particular line of argument you used about slavery is one all too familiar from my childhood, whether you meant in the same manner it was originally used or not.
And of course I am glad you are here inreality.
