Professor Thomas Gold, the late Dr. Fred Hoyle; cut from the same cloth?

I can't recall the astronomer Thomas Gold having
one correct theory to his credit.
Can anybody quote or list a correct or verifiable theory of his?
I can't.
Those old enough to remember [Myself, Phil?] can recall his erroneous theory that the moon would be covered with dust, kilometers deep, capable of swallowing astronauts like quicksand. NASA was 'concerned' his theory may have been right, that is until LUNA-9 proved him wrong in 1966.

Then there's the late astronomer Fred Hoyle, who espoused
his panspermia theory [Barry D's favorite theory] to explain the creation of life. It seems both astronomers are cut from the same cloth.
