Espace Magazine has lots of very interesting articles. (But I wonder how long the magazine will last, knowing what happened to many others).
There's an interview of the 16 Euronauts about why is the manned spaceflight important.
Paolo Nespoli says; there's one thing astronauts can do, which robots cannot: to motivate people and make them dream. Because it's easier to feel concerned about the experience of another human being.
Roberto Vittori: my 5 year old son once said: people must go to space to find out what's out there. He expressed a fundamental characteristic of human nature: curiosity.. For him, if man goes to space, it's because he wants to know.
Philippe Perrin, in another interview (he's a pilot) said that the launch wasn't comparable to flying. There are G forces but only in one direction. It's vibrating so much we can't read the screens. During the re-entry phase, however, it was very much like flying.
Yuri Usatchev has experienced the Soyuz and the Shuttle on ascent and re-entry and for him, the Soyuz is more interesting at liftoff (far less vibrations, similar G's, slower start) than the Shuttle, but the re-entry is much better with the Shuttle (less vibrations and G's) than with the Soyuz.
