Samsung Electronics bans camera phones from key factories.
At some point, I'm sure some executive sat straight up in bed in the middle of the night and said "Holy shit, anybody at all can buy a cell phone camera that takes pictures and IMMEDIATELY broadcasts them anywhere else in the world! Even from inside a building!"
James Bond never had it so good. No more sneaking the microfilm out of the enemy camp. And unlike a miniature spy camera, carrying a photo cell phone has a perfectly innocent explanation, because everyone's buying them.
The one saving grace is that in theory a person who piped a picture directly out of a secure facility could probably be traced. But I have seen vending machines that dispense rental cell phones at airports. Use 'em and lose 'em. No doubt photo cell phones will be similarly available soon.
Will secure facilities start scrambling cell phone signals in its buildings? If it's a private company, what impact would that have on the many legitimate business uses of such things? And what keeps someone from piping the photo out on a computer link (also easily done with these things.)
I haven't even thought through half the ramifications.
Wondered why it took so long for someone to notice this...
