re: White House admits factual error

The Left has selected this issue as the weak point in Bush's armor, and are apparently going all the way with it. The fact that one piece of data in thousands of intelligence reports turned out to not be true would not normally seem to be that big a problem. God knows a huge amount of the information that flows into the CIA is probably bullshit, and it's astonishing more stuff like this doesn't get by them and into the halls of power.

And it's not like the only reason we went into Iraq is because they tried to buy uranium from Africa.

This Washington Post article shows that the story is a bit more involved than the simplistic version being circulated. What we are looking at is simple communication failure with part of a huge data flow.

But like Enron and the rest, the Left is always hoping for the Silver Bullet that will wreck Bush's political career. Maybe this time for sure?

Look at this blog, and note the almost wistful hopes of the anti-Bush folks that this time, finally, they've got Bush's number.*

...I wouldn't even be surprised if Bush pulls an LBJ and doesn't even run.

...I do hope this becomes the Administration's Watergate.

...But anyway, here's to hoping that this is the straw that finally breaks the lying camel's back.

...Is it possible to be a hopeful skeptic about the political effect of this?

*Oh PLEASE let them start to refer to it as "Yellowcakegate."
