p:"Gee, haven't we read ol' EPG's rant here whenever I correctly mention DOD as potentially having responsibility for this issue?"
Look, p, stop encouraging Weiler in trying to hand off the issue to DoD. While one of these things could trigger a nuclear war, and DoD must be and is "concerned", they simply lack the ability to provide early warning - that's NASA's responsibility, and at least the Reps feel that Weiler does not need any further language than that already existing to take it on. If he insists, they're likely to encourage his replacement with someone with a little more common sense.
P:"Instead, the old coot goes off on a irrelevant rant about (sic) Mark's Mars money."
That $20 mil per year could easily come from the bogus watery Mars "science" that NASA currently is supporting.
p:"At least it would give Homes Security something productive to do instead of strip searching flight attendants."
FEMA is not ready for an impact, and one of them will happen with certainty.
-p: (noticed EPG's sig missing from the NEO prestigious folk)
I don't mind sending men to the Mars cycler 1999 KY 26, but Dr. Mazanek's team at Langley seems to think that using Moon based facilities to find these things would be a better idea, and I agree.
