I saw that site, but thanks for the link anyway...
A few months ago I did some calculations, I dont remember all the numbers, but came up with the result that to broadcast a signal via laser that would be detectible by a keck-like telescope tens of LY away is possible with our current day technology... with the caveat that you would want your laser and optics in space...(although creative use of adaptive optics could probably solve this problem)
