You might want to consider that your sources of information on Iraq are usually news people that would cut their right arm off with a rusty saw to see Iraq go down in flames and Bush go up in smoke.
I don't suppose you have noticed some of the good news out of Iraq, including the first parts of a representative government (the first Muslim one in the Middle East, for the record), oil being pumped and sold, that we have captured most of the leaders we have targeted? That mass graves are being emptied, not filled? That many places in Iraq now have reliable utility services that never had them during Saddam's regime? That aid is going to the people of Iraq now, and not into building palaces? That Saddam isn't starving kids any more while blaming sanctions?
Have you seen any of these quotes in the mainstream press? Didn't think so.
I don't suppose you have noticed what has NOT happened in Iraq, including massive civil unrest, refugees streaming into neighboring nations, total civil war between Sunnis and Shiites, and CIVILIAN attacks on our troops.
Have you noticed the good news on terrorism in general? Did you see the 4th of July go by without a single attack on American interests anywhere? When was the last attack in America?
The big papers and networks don't hold the monopoly on news they did during Vietnam, and it isn't going to be as easy to pull it off this time.
