I would be willing to bet there is no President in this century who hasn't lied about something. The unforgiveable is to be stupid enough to get caught. If a President believes in his heart and soul that there is a course of action that is best for the country, he lies in order to facilitate movement in that direction, and that course of action is in fact beneficial, then history will record him as someone who had the courage of his convictions and plowed a true course on behalf of the people. If, however, the course of action does not turn out as well as expected by the people, then history will never forgive him, nor will the electorate.

IOW, I think the Prez shot himself in the foot and he's hopping around hoping the bullet hole doesn't show.
