The last I heard, we still have troops in Japan.
That "occupation" has been far from cheap. And Many Japaneese resent the "American Occupiers" to this day.
I hope we aren't in Iraq as long as we have been in Japan...But anything is possible...And Asia is more stable than the Middle East, which makes a long-term occupation of Iraq even more likely.
