They already had their tyrant. Now you have a bunch of fundamentalists being funded by Al Qaeda and other groups who want to set up another Taliban style old-Afghanistan government where they impose the law and everyone else obeys.

The fear of a "westernized" Iraq is literally driving the folks (who sit on their duffs and exploit the masses of Muslims with rhetoric while living very, very comfortably) up the proverbial wall.

Iran fears a western pro-US Iraq as well and sees eventual repercussions for what occurred in 1979. They fear US payback - oh, yeah...bigtime. So they send their rebel rousers across the border to actively work against the US.

The UN is western target as well and is fair game. The UN, USA and freedom are the enemies of these folks and death means nothing to them. Illiterates have no history other than that told to them by their clerics. As a result you have some adult ignoramuses running around with weapons - who are utterly clueless as to what is going on in the world or how they are sabotaging their own long life and happiness.
