I thought it was kinda funny. Predictable, but funny nonetheless. Did I miss the trademark explosion, destruction and loss of life?
No new martyrs here…
The new communiqué says that in compliance with the orders of Osama bin Laden to strike at the American economy, the Brigades struck two important electricity supply targets on the East coast, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute. The Brigades say that they cannot reveal how they did it, because they will probably have to use the same method again soon. The communiqué also claimed that the operation was meant as a present for the Iraqi people.
I'm sure the al-Qai'da leadership will explain how they managed the blackout -- once we've explained to them how exactly it occurred.
"It wasn't actually a power plant on the East Coast."
All heads silently nod agreement.
"In fact, the surge occurred on the Lake Erie Loop."
All heads silently nod agreement.
"A southern leg, in fact, in the region of Ohio and Michigan."
All heads silently nod agreement.
"We monitored fluctuations in the grid, but the trouble appeared to be contained."
All heads silently nod agreement.
"Antiquated power lines, however, were overtaxed, forcing a shunt to other lines, which became overtaxed as well."
All laugh with maniacal glee. "Yes! Yes, exactly! Take that, Western infidels!"
Well, I suppose taking the blame for catastrophes that nobody wishes to accept responsibility for is cheaper than actually doing it yourself...
