Cripes.

$2.4 billion for the goddam design phase of what amounts to a four-man DynaSoar. Not construction. Not deployment. The design phase!!

"Inexpensive by space standards." Who could say that with a straight face? Or while retaining the contents of their stomachs?

An 8,000 ton Seawolf attack submarine, slid off the slips painted and completed, built to military specifications by the General Dynamics Electric Boat division, fully armed and outfitted with the latest equipment, powered by atomic engines, for the love of Mike, and infamous in its day as a classic example of excessive government military spending, costs the American government about $2.1 billion each.

Anybody still wondering what the problem is with our space program?
